Disciples Outpost Ministry Vision
Disciples Outpost is a ministry of Jesus Christ that exists to obey His great commission command recorded in Matthew 28:19 and 20 - “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you”.
Evangelism
Our evangelism efforts begin through regular expository preaching and teaching at the local church with the objective to not only impart the Word of God, but also promote a transferable means of clearly understanding the Word. This context provides the foundation and base for further outreach. From the local church we act upon invitation to continue sharing by visiting other churches locally and internationally for preaching and teaching opportunities. Leading in worship through music often accompanies these other evangelistic means.
Discipleship
In following the example set by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ we focus our discipleship efforts on individual people through one on one conversations, small group settings, and focused counseling. We place an importance on spending time together in each other's homes. This allows for a realistic relationship to develop over a period of time which will move beyond the bounds of pretense and allow honesty and grace to prevail. The goal is always to encourage growth in a personal relationship with Christ.
Distinctives
Two distinctives drive the mission and both seek to consider how dynamics of power affect ministry. The first is the means by which we minister to the marginalized. The marginalized are to be received and treated with special care so as not to unduly burden or compromise. The second is the way we care for victims of abuse. The church must be an environment where abuse is unlikely to take place, and a place that is equipped to receive those that have been victims of abuse. It is imperative that our missionaries are trauma informed. Proverbs 31:8-9 “Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
